Registered Agent

Annual Registered Agent Services

Registered Agent: In the United States, a registered agent is a business or individual designated to receive service of process (SOP) when a business entity is a party in a legal action such as a lawsuit or summons. In some states the function is also referred to as a resident agent or statutory agent, however most states have changed their statutes to call this function “registered agent.” The Registered agent for a business entity can be an individual or more often a third party such as the organization’s lawyer or a service company. Failure to properly maintain a registered agent can affect a company negatively.

Quik Filings, LLC charges $150 per year for the first year, and $105 pear year after that per company, per state, for Registered Agent Services.

Helpful Hint

Many people don't know if they should be their own registered agent when they own a small business. You can use your own address if you work from your home, but then you need to realize that your address is on the Secretary of State website and is now public knowledge. A Registered Agent should also always be around during business hours. If your business is one in which you're traveling and not home, you should have a Registered Agent that is guaranteed to be there during business hours.
